Kong Hee was called by God to start a church in the downtown area of Singapore. In 1989, City Harvest Church was founded with 20 young people. Today it averages 28,134 in weekly attendance, and has a total membership of 32,731.

Kong is involved in building the body of Christ at large, particularly in Asia. He sits on the board of Church Growth International, an organization founded by Rev. Dr. Yonggi Cho of Yoido Full Gospel Church, that emphasises on prayer, evangelism and church growth. He is on the board of reference for Transform World, Indonesia. Kong is also the honorary executive director of the Festival of Praise in Singapore.

As a recognized personality in the international speaking circuit, Kong receives hundreds of invitations each year to lecture in universities, business corporations, churches and conferences around the globe.  To date, more than one million have attended his seminars in person, while countless others in Asia have heard him through his weekly half-hour television broadcast, “Harvest Time.”
